The future of King Jason is closely connected to its past.
Our story began in Livadi, a small village deep in the Paphos forest, Cyprus. In 1953, the people of Livadi were forced to leave their homes and rebuild their lives elsewhere. Some moved across the island. Others moved further away, to the four corners of the globe. One of the nearby communities to welcome some of them was Pachyammos, a coastal village around 30km from Livadi, and the closest many could get to calling ‘home’.
Today, Pachyammos faces a similar yet more modern challenge. Like many rural communities, it has been affected by urbanisation and a gradual loss of everyday life. The village has very few services, limited activity, and few opportunities for younger generations to remain.
For King Jason Zante, King Jason Paphos and King Jason Protaras, this matters deeply. As descendants of Livadiotes, we feel connected to Pachyammos, not only through geography, but also through memory, responsibility, and shared heritage. Our aim is to help the village look forward while preserving the slower way of life that makes it so special.
Over the coming years, we plan to support projects that can bring careful, year-round activity to Pachyammos. These include improvements to the village square, better nature trails, sustainable mobility ideas, gastronomy festivals, and volunteering opportunities for visitors who want to connect more deeply with the community.
We also plan to create Horkon, meaning “village” in Greek. Horkon is envisioned as a small delicatessen and social hub, offering everyday essentials, local produce, traditional craft workshops, and a coffee shop where locals and visitors can interact. The long-term hope is that these efforts will help create tourism-related jobs and support the community in a practical, lasting way.
