The story of King Jason begins in Livadi, a small village deep inside the Paphos forest, Cyprus.
Our family descends from the people of this village, known as Livadiotes. They settled there permanently in the 19th century and became known as legendary protectors of the forest. Many herded goats, worked the land, or tended to the forest for a living. Life was simple, demanding, and deeply connected to nature.
There were no cars, no modern comforts, and very few shortcuts. People walked for hours through the forest to exchange goods with neighbouring communities. Fire provided heat and light. A stream provided water. Daily life required patience, strength, humility, and care for one another.
These origins shaped the values that still guide King Jason Zante, King Jason Paphos and King Jason Protaras today: respect for nature, support for local communities, empathy towards those less fortunate, honesty in our promises, openness towards others, and generous hospitality.
Even our name has its roots in Livadi. The village had a tradition of giving children names from ancient Greek mythology. Iasonas, or Jason, was one of those children, born in Livadi. Our hotel collection carries the name in his honour.
At King Jason hotels in Cyprus and Greece, we try to preserve this heritage not by recreating the past, but by carrying its spirit forward. For example, all three hotels have a centrally located communal area made up of the reception, lobby, main bar, outdoor veranda, and various dining spaces. This reflects the role once played by the village plateia — the square where people gathered, exchanged news, welcomed visitors, shared food, and spent time together.
This same idea can be seen in our hospitality as well. Our reception desks are low and open, designed for warmer interaction even as guests arrive to us for the very first time. They are greeted with welcome treats, small surprises, and a sense of abundance throughout their stay. Our Premium and Lifestyle All-inclusive packages especially reflect this spirit of generosity.
Clearly, for us, hospitality is not only a professional skill. It is where we come from. The story of Livadi reminds us to be humble, honest, open, respectful, community-driven and generous. It reminds us that people should be noticed, heard, understood, and comforted at all times.
This is why the King Jason Collection exists: to honour the memory of those who came before us by redefining genuine hospitality for those we meet today.
